About Us

Dr Ved Berani, a second generation dentist, shows great pride in his work, for helping everyone achieve a great smile. Dr Ved made his mark in the history of the University of Bombay in the year 2000 when he topped with a distinction! He shares his knowledge and experience, with all patients and clinical coordinators to increase the overall experience of practicing in a private practice more enjoyable and informed for everyone.
Since taking over the 35 year old practice from Dr Kleine 5 years ago, he has made sincere attempts to deliver high quality state of art dentistry in a relaxed and pleasant environment. He introduced the philosophy “Healthy mouths… Beautiful smiles”, which helps deliver high quality cosmetic dentistry while still retaining basic principles of prevention and maintaining a healthy foundation of teeth and gums.

Always available for his patients he is an avid golfer and manages his time at work and at home with 3 children and one day hopes to have a culinary degree in world cuisine.

Dr Jagruti Patel is our passionate dentist who has been working at the practice for the last two years and as the practice has got busier Jagruti has increased her hours from two to four days a week to provide timely and quality care to patients. Jagruti is kind, gentle and caring and is committed to providing patients with optimum dental treatment. Jagruti is our whitening specialist and also has a special interest in periodontal treatment, root canal treatments, crown and bridges and direct tooth colour fillings. Jagruti, also known as ‘JP’, to her patients is a valuable asset to the practice, her experience in dentistry and warm approach makes the visit to the dentist a more comfortable experience. When JP isn’t at work caring for all of her patients she enjoys cooking delicious vegetarian meals and spending time with her husband and 3 year old daughter.

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Sean Hogan into our practice. We are fortunate to have Dr. Hogan here to perform procedures, which originally we had to refer to specialists.
Dr Sean Hogan graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1995 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. With a strong interest in surgical dentistry, Sean has continually furthered his skills in this area – attending many courses and workshops, as well as working in the Oral Surgery and Emergency Service units at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.
Sean enjoys a wide variety of surgical dental practice, including exodontia and implant surgery. Additionally he has a wealth of experience in surgical and paediatric dentistry under general anaesthetic, regularly performing these in both government and private practice settings.

We wish to introduce you all to George Alvarez who has joined our practice as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist.
George graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2005 with a Bachelor of Oral Health Science in Oral Health. George also holds a Dental Degree and is a Doctor of Dental Medicine in the Philippines. George brings to our practice 20 years of experience in the dental field. Since moving to Melbourne George has worked extensively in Dental Health Services Victoria with children.
George is very experience in working with nervous patients and is extremely gentle and thorough and he will go into great detail with you regarding your gum and dental treatment. He believes in the importance of educating his patients to enable them to achieved long term good oral health and like the rest of our team, maintains a high level of ethical standard and sensitivity in his delivery of dental care.
George is happily married and has 3 boys and twin girls at the end but in spite of his busy life he still set a time to his own routine exercise and his spare time enjoys singing and playing tennis.
George is looking forward to meeting all our current patients as well as new patients to the practice. We are very pleased to have George join our team at Healthy Smile Dental Group!

Dr Hetal Patel was born and raised in England. He graduated from Guy’s Dental School, University of London in 1995. Over the last 16 years he has forged a career in general dental practice with a strong belief that everyone deserves a beautiful, healthy smile to further enhance their well being, quality of life and confidence. He opened his own clinic in England in 2000. This blossomed into a thriving, 5 surgery, cosmetic focused practice that his brother now runs.
Hetal is a highly experienced general practitioner. He has amazing enthusiasm and passion for his dentistry, which results in him providing dentistry of the highest caliber. He has a gentle, caring approach and is very much at ease looking after nervous and anxious patients.
Though committed to attending regular dental courses for continuing post-graduate education, over the past 7 years Hetal has developed a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and the art of smile makeovers. He catalogues case after case where he has seen his patients transformed true to his treatment philosophy.
He is married with 2 beautiful children, and when time allows, he enjoys playing golf, tennis and reading.

Priyanka Sethi Berani, is a commerce graduate with a strong background in management and practice enhancement. Technology is her forte. She is a fun-loving individual with exceptional customer service skills and is always there to answer queries and help patients. She looks after the day to day running of the surgery, and the back office workload.

Chloe has recently joined the team at Healthy Smiles and we are very excited to have her here. Chloe has already shown considerable interest and willingness to learn all aspects of the dentistry field. Chloe enjoys working in the surgery and learning new and exciting things everyday. She is also learning our computer system which we are sure she will be a great asset to the front desk, with her dazzling smile, her kindness and her enthusiasm for meeting new people. Chloe has a Division II in nursing which brings a professionalism and generosity to her work.  We are sure Chloe will go far in dentistry and are very pleased to have her as a part of our team.

Dr Emily Zhang is a recent addition to our friendly team at Healthy Smiles. She joins us having graduated with Honours from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science. Being a second generation dentist, Emily brings a wealth of passion and enthusiasm to her practice and believes strongly in providing quality care and informed treatment to all her patients. Having once been anxious of dental visits herself, Emily will go to great lengths to ensure all her patients are comfortable, settled, and at ease in the dental clinic.

Emily has been mentored by numerous specialists from all fields of dentistry during her time spent at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. She enjoys keeping abreast of the latest developments in dentistry and takes great pride in applying this knowledge to better benefit her patients. She is a gentle dentist with a caring touch and receives genuine satisfaction in improving and maintaining her patients’ mouths in a state of health, comfort and aesthetics.

Outside of dentistry, Emily happily balances her professional life with quality time spent with family and friends, creating beautiful arts and crafts and experimenting with new kitchen recipes!

Katelyn has recently joined the Healthy Smiles Team and brings over 8 years experience with her. Katelyn enjoys working in the surgery but has shone through with her maturity and warmth on the front desk, greeting every patient with her dazzling smile. She has shown tremendous enthusiasm and keenness to tackle the difficulty of learning a new computer system and the general day to day tasks of the practice.

We are very pleased to welcome Katelyn to the Healthy Smiles team and are sure her many years of experience will benefit all of the staff here. Katelyn is excited to be starting here and cannot wait to meet all our lovely patients.

Mikaela has started her career with Healthy Smiles as a clinical co-coordinator in December 2009 and is near completion of her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. Mikaela has enjoyed studying and broadening her knowledge about dentistry including all the paths it can take her. She enjoys all aspects of assisting in the surgery and communicating directly with patients. She has also excelled on learning the computer system to be a valuable member on the front desk. She is a friendly, caring person, a competent assistant who has enthusiastically taken on all tasks and jobs she has encountered since being here. We believe she will be a great asset to the practice.

Laura joined the Healthy Smiles Team in April 2009, since then she has completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and is now our Senior Dental Assistant. Laura has shown an enormous flare for dental assisting and continues to thrive to expand her knowledge. Laura is an amazing assistant in the surgery and also is a lovely person to be greeted by on the front desk. Laura also has the important job of ordering all our stock.

Some of her tasks at work include chair side assisting in the surgery, sterilization duties and general reception, but most of all, her favourite part of the job is all the wonderful people she gets to interact with throughout the day.

Amabelle has recently started her career as a trainee at Healthy Smiles. She is excited about learning all that there is to learn in the field of dentistry. She finds coming to work here satisfying as it brings new experiences and challenges each day. She finds working closely with the patient can be very rewarding and enjoyable. She is looking forward to meeting and getting to know all our lovely patients. Amabelle is currently starting her training working in the surgery and learning all the procedures for chair side assistance. We are all very excited to have Amabelle joining our team as she brings a warmth and maturity to her work.
